Collection Description

In addition to the five core senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch, there are also two other senses that help us coordinate movement: the vestibular system, and the sense of proprioception. The vestibular system gives us information about our body’s movements in the space around us, provides a sense of gravity and balance, and coordinates our eye movements. Proprioception uses the receptors in our joints and muscles to tell us about our position, and allows the movement and manipulation of objects with the appropriate amount of force.

In most children, a normal sensory integration is developed through playing and exploring the world around them, but some children may need extra help with regulating their senses. Children with special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, and dyspraxia may have difficulty performing fine and gross motor movements, and learning new tasks or unfamiliar movements.

Here at UKS Mobility we stock a wide variety of sensory equipment designed to help children to develop their balance and movement senses in a safe and stable way. Browse our full range of balance and movement sensory equipment below, where you’ll find seating wedges, stepping stones, hamster wheels, and tactile paths.

We hope you’re able to find everything you need on our website, but if there’s anything else we can help with then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
